We spent our 2nd day in the computer lab filling out our World's Biomes Packet.
Remember, students can use this packet on Wednesday's quiz. Using a college-level website from the University of California-Berkeley, the students filled in a series of data tables about each of the 15 major biomes/ aquatic life zones.
Students can use this packet on Wednesday's Biomes Quiz. We went through the PowerPoint for Chapter 4 - Modules 9, 10, 11. They discuss climate and the the factors that influence it.
We introduced our new unit with an activity called Earth's Uneven Heating. This was an in-class essay that also involves experimental design. Students completed this activity with a partner. They used their APES textbook as a reference in addition to supplemental information from Earth Science textbooks.
Today we completed a Climatograph Activity. A climatograph is a way to graphically display information about an area's climate (specifically temperature and preciptation).
UNIT 2 EXAM (FRQ)
We took the Free Response Question part of our Unit 2 Exam. After they completed the essay, they picked up a copy of the Unit 3 Schedule and the Unit 3 Study Guide. UNIT 2 EXAM (MC)
We took the multiple choice part of our Unit 2 Exam. After they were done with the test, they quietly prepared for tomorrow's FRQ portion using the possible question options I gave them a few weeks ago. We went through the Chapter 3 - Module 7 and 8 PowerPoint which dealt with the biogeochemical cycles. I answered any questions students had about tomorrow's Unit 2 Exam.
To continue our practice of the biogeochemical cycles, students were given the choice of working on their cycles packets or the cycles diagram outline.
We used the tablets to access a Cycles Diagram PowerPoint and fill in a Cycles Diagrams Outline that explains the main "Destinations" and "Actions" words for each cycle. The PowerPoint contains good, clear, concise diagrams for each of the 5 cycles.
