Today we explored the world famous Isle Royale Population Study. This case study looks at the population dynamics of a population of wolves and moose on a large island in Lake Superior.
I started by presenting an informational PowerPoint about the population study. It was not meant as a section of notes, only as more information about this famous population study. This PowerPoint included information from the project's 2015 Annual Report that represents the ultimate resource for information on this population study.
I then gave the students a graph of the populations of both wolves and moose on the island. Along with the graph was a series of questions that asked the students to read a few supplemental articles to add to their understanding.
